They are the young dancers who will shape the future of Indonesian ballet. Ballet has always been regarded as a trained form of dancing that requires thousands hours of practice. It should not be misconstrued as a dance that’s just for the ladies. Some of the greatest ballet dancers such as Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev were men who gave phenomenal performances time and again to audiences who were delighted and amazed to witness their strength, endurance, beauty and grace. The two were Russian, and indeed through them, as well as choreographers Diaghilev and Mikhail Fokin and also composers such as Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, Russia has become the epicenter of ballet. Russia’s impressive reputation in ballet has made most of us forget that the graceful dance originated in Italy in the 15th century and expanded worldwide. As a result, the art interacted with different cultures and evolved in a number of distinct ways. to Read Full Story SUBSCRIBE NOW Starting from IDR 55,500/month Unlimited access to our web and app content e-Post daily digital newspaper No advertisements, no interruptions Privileged access to our events and programs Subscription to our newsletters We accept Or let Google manage your subscription Topics ballet ballet-dancer Ari-Prajanegara Jemima-Vaya Nadia-Mulyono Shalama-Qowlam-Fadila Farida-Oetoyo Indonesian-ballerina + view more

Its function is to strengthen the resilience of a local culture. This research aims to gain better knowledge about the transition process of traditional theatre performances to increase the awareness of the local community. The results obtained from this study, namely the oral literature of the archipelago, have an important role in historical knowledge. The use of oral literature in stage performances makes a simple story more complex, one of which is manifested in the performing arts of the Dolalak dance. This article will contribute to the use of oral literature as a source of stories in traditional performances so that the results can be used to nurture and maintain the resilience of a local cultureLinda HutcheonRenowned literary scholar Linda Hutcheon explores the ubiquity of adaptations in all their various media incarnations and challenges their constant critical denigration. Adaptation, Hutcheon argues, has always been a central mode of the story-telling imagination and deserves to be studied in all its breadth and range as both a process of creation and reception and a product unto its own. Persuasive and illuminating, A Theory of Adaptation is a bold rethinking of how adaptation works across all media and genres that may put an end to the age-old question of whether the book was better than the movie, or the opera, or the theme is My Life-Biografi Marlupi Sijangga.
